Women-run with a laid-back charm, seven-generations strong.

Where we preserve what we love while curating new traditions

We keep our heritage current with today’s hospitality. Weila, historically run as the Menge an der Schlacht Hotel, is a long-time and loyal member of the community known for its touch of sass. Dating all the way back to 1833, the property has been propelled forward through the last seven generations by the family’s strong bond and love of spending time together. Under the direction of Friederike Menge, the new generation is now guiding the boutique hotel into its next chapter: a modernised concept that carries forward the Menge’s foundation of values. Though the family’s knack for success seems nothing short of destiny at this point in history, will the recipe for that success stay the same? Not at all. It will be even better!

Two hearts beating as one

Friederike has an alter ego. Or is it a younger ego? Her name is Paula and she’s Friederike's extroverted self. She's rather cheeky and adores spending quality time with her favourite people. Friederike, on the other hand, is more the quiet type and thrives in comfy, cosy environments, which comes through in the design of the hotel’s interior spaces. In fact, both have been able to add their own creative touches here at weila. And you know what? Birds of different feathers can also flock together. And you’ll see the dynamic in every design element: the Menge family touch leaves no detail to its own devices. And we do it all for our guests.

Downtime, your way

A come-together destination for Sauerland getaways and kick-off point for exploring surrounding regions: weila is the place to be.
